    A series of images in the Museum's photography collection appear to be, at first glance, simply rather charming. The images feature boulders in wooded places with a man's hat placed on top. In actuality, this was William T. Davis' method for recording glacial erratics, large boulders moved to Staten Island from upstate New York and Canada by the Wisconsin glacier.
