Description |
As a Staten Island resident of more than a decade, Griselda Healy has a strong connection to the arts community on the Island. She has had a studio at Snug Harbor since 1997. Healy studied at Lyme Academy College of Fine Art, the Arts Students League and the National Academy of Design. Ferry: Paintings and Pastels was an exhibition of her work at the Staten Island Museum in 2005. This painting presents a narrative about real people, recording their passage between home and work. Traveling on the Ferry, they escape, finding time to read, sleep, talk to friends, or just daydream. This is 'ferry time,’ a commute that lasts no more than twenty-five minutes from St. George, Staten Island to Whitehall, Manhattan, but is a journey that disconnects people from the major acts of their day. |
