Description |
Known as the "cicadaman," William T. Davis was the world expert in cicadas during the early 20th century. He described over 150 different kinds of cicada, including many species new to science. His reputation was so well-known that researchers from around the country and around the world sent him cicadas to identify and add to his collection. As a result, the Staten Island Museum has one of the world's largest collections of cicadas. |
